Jaipur Rugs is a manufacturer of carpets and specialized in hand-knotted carpets made by over 40.000 artisans in Rajasthan. Their ambition is to grow towards 100.000 artisans within the next five years. Next to that, Jaipur Rugs aims to increase the daily income significantly for the artisans, improve the image of being an artisan making hand-knotted carpet and further improve the time to market. Women on Wings supports Jaipur Rugs in realizing its’ ambitious targets. They first met in Jaipur, India, last June and discussed possibilities for working together. Last November Ellen Tacoma en Nicolette Biessels worked together with the Jaipur Rugs management to help define the long term targets and create focus in activities.
Jaipur Rugs believes in the power of its’ artisans and invests continuously in their social and economic development. This means that every rug is not just hand-knotted, but has a beautiful story which deserves to be told to the world.
