Jaipur Rugs Wins NASSCOM Social Innovation Award

ATLANTA –Jaipur Rugs has received Nasscom Foundation’s Social Innovation Honors award, which recognizes social innovations in India that aim to positively impact society by using information and communications technologies (ICT). The rug manufacturer won in the category called ICT Led Social Innovation by a Corporate (Responsible Business).

Jaipur Rugs has deployed ICT to streamline the production process starting from yarn production to delivery of products, generating employment for 40,000 grassroots-level people. Technology is used to create designs for the carpets; villages are linked using Virtual Private Networks. Jaipur Rugs uses technology effectively for the rest of the process—monitoring, quality check, date recording, analysis and more to make the process more efficient and impactful, the company said.

Nasscom’s awards were established in 2008.
