Jaipur Rugs has reached a licensing agreement with the Museum of New Mexico Foundation to create a collection of rugs and pillows.
The Traditions made Modern collection will feature rugs and pillows inspired by the ethnic textile collection at the Museum of International Folk Art and the basketry and weaving collections at the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture. Jaipur's designers will translate the artistry, motifs and craftsmanship into contemporary flatweave, tufted and hand-knotted rugs and appliqued and hand-blocked pillows.
"Our team was so impressed after visiting the museums. The depth and breadth of the museums' collections inspired in them a new level of creativity and a fresh perspective into the contemporary design opportunities that ethnic material offers," said Asha Chaudhary, Jaipur Rugs president, "Rooted in history and cultural tradition, and translated for a modern consumer, Traditions made Modern will afford consumers the opportunity to make a unique style statement."
Through its licensing program, the Museum of New Mexico offers to manufacturers a design resource rich in one-of-a-kind material representing the vast and diverse artistic expression of the world's folk cultures.
Eclectic modern collections in finer qualities of hand knotting highly sought after by global art connoisseurs.
