Carpet Design Award - Domotex 2012

The rug Ruby Room in Aqua colour, in the designer collection titled CONNEXTION and signed by Jenny Jones and JAIPUR, has been awarded as the Best Modern Design Superior at the Carpet Design Awards (CDA) 2012. The prestigious awards are organized by Domotex, the world’s leading floor covering fair in partnership with HALI and COVER magazines, the premier international publications on handmade carpets, and in 2012 over 211 carpets from 26 countries entered the competition.

From bamboo silk and the best quality wool and with a total number of knots of 800,000, Ruby Room in Aqua color is part of the BLUES colour story in CONNEXTION, officially launched in Domotex Hannover in January 2012. Jenny Jones, who designed Ruby Room and other 50 modern rugs in this collection, talks about each piece in artistic terms: “Like fine paintings that adorn the floor, beautiful handcrafted carpets play an invaluable part in creating the style of a room and bring together all the separate elements of the interior design to create one harmonious overall story”.

“Traditional and contemporary hand-made carpets are the ultimate lifestyle statement and exemplify the best of modern interior design and artisan skills.” says one of the competition judges, Nina Yashar.

The winning piece has a creation time of 8 months and was hand-woven by Sayrana, mother of three children in her home in Sahsawan village, Uttar Pradesh state, India.
